The Nebraska Bankers Association encour- ages members to participate in the FinCrime Network, an online database coordinated by 13 state bankers as- sociations. “The FinCrime Network allows banks and law enforcement to work together to share information related to financial crimes,” said George Beat- tie, president and CEO of the Nebraska Bankers Association. “The network helps banks detect and prevent fraud while improving law enforcement’s ability to investigate crimes.” Since its launch in 2003, the Fin- Crime Network has resulted in ar- rests and has helped law enforcement connect crimes that have occurred in multiple jurisdictions. Participating banks also have avoided losses due to information posted on the network. The FinCrime Network can be used by any law enforcement agency or eli- gible financial institution. Users post information regarding financial crimes to a database. The information then is distributed to interested participants in the network. When an incident is posted to the network, the incident is written to the FinCrime database for future reference by investigators. Then an e-mail alert is sent to other FinCrime subscribers based upon each subscriber’s inter- est profile and the specifics of the incident.
