Marik NBA Past Chairman (402) 562-5846 First National Bank of Columbus, Columbus Loyalty: Your NBA Relies on It George Beattie, President & CEO, Nebraska Bankers Association M OSTNEBRASKANSUNDERSTANDFANLOYALTY. DEVOTED fans of Husker football will continue to follow the team, relatively undaunted by a string of losing seasons, a change of players, or turnover in the coaching staff. As bankers, you understand customer loyalty. When a customer leaves your financial institution for a better loan rate from the Farm Credit System or a higher CD rate from a credit union, youmay feel angry or upset that the customer is leaving a long-term relationship with your bank for a better rate or return on their dollar. Loyalty is important. We all rely on it—even your Nebraska Bankers Association. In addition to being members of the NBA, most banks are also customers of the NBA. The NBA offers many products that have been around for years to help banks in both good times and bad. The NBA relies on income from its insurance operation and educational programming to help provide the services we offer to the banking industry such as lobbying and legal assistance. When you buy bank insurance products from NBISCO or register for an NBA education event, you not only receive outstanding products and services at excellent prices, you also are helping the NBA in its advocacy role for the entire industry. In addition to the association’s product and service of- ferings, member dues assist the NBA in our lobbying and advocacy role, too. I am pleased to report that the NBA’s dues structure has not changed since 2003. What this means Q Loyalty — continued on page 8 PRESIDENT’S MESSAGE
