March | April 2013 7 Extraordinary Service for Extraordinary Members. ReachGeorge Beattie at (402) 474-1555 or george.beattie@nebankers.org . Adventures on the Open Road George Beattie , President & CEO, Nebraska Bankers Association T HROUGHOUT THE YEAR, YOUR NBA OFFICERS AND I TRAVEL the state for various associationmeetings and events. On our trips we like to visit your community and see you in your bank. We like to hear what is on your mind and get to know you better. We’ve found this is one of the most useful ways to understand how to best serve you and to remain a banker-driven association. In the course of our travels, we learn a lot about what is go- ing on in our great state and in communities up and down our highways. Since the NBA elects a new volunteer leader every year, it is good to expose that individual to parts of the state they may have never visited and introduce them to bankers they have never met. The officers and I are oftenasked to share our perspective on themany issues facing the industry.Whenwe knowfirsthandof the challenges you face, the successes in your communities, or the condition of agriculture fromour “windshield inspections,” we are able tomore effectively sharewhat we have learnedwith the media, regulators, and government officials. While we don’t get into each bank every year, we do our best to “make the rounds” and see as many of you as possible. Whether we are exploring the Wildcat Hills or the Ashfall Fossil Beds, checking out the flow of the Republican River or driving through Ponca State Park, we are on a road near you with a stop at your bank in mind.
