There are few sources of information available to legislators as powerful as a well-informed, respected constituent. The power of a school superintendent to inform on education policy, the NDR director or local farmer on water policy, or the local banker on banking and fiscal policy is tremendous. Bankers should have a relationship with their senator and not simply expect the bankers association to take care of it. Bankers need to understand their ability to individually influence policy by having a positive relationship with their senator and by being proactive and available.  Nebraska State Senators consider bills for passage on final reading on the final day of the 2013 session.
