www.nebankers.org 18 Extraordinary Service for Extraordinary Members. T H E L E G I S L A T I V E P R O C E S S assumes constituents will make their views known to their leg- islative representatives when a particular proposal affects their per- sonal, social, or economic interests. Yet in most cases this does not happen. In an effort to facilitate this process, the NBA Government Relations Com- mittee established the Contact Bank- ers Program to present the banking industry’s views on legislative issues in an organized manner. Contact Bankers are bankers who have an existing relationship with one or more members of the Unicameral or who want to become politically active. If you are a personal friend of a legislator, belong to the same civic club or church, have a banking relationshipwith a legis- lator, or would simply like to get to know your legislator better, you are needed for the NBA Contact Bankers Program. Please sign up as a Contact Banker, and then encourage other employees in your bank who have developed re- lationships with their state senator to sign up as well. These personal contacts supplement the opinion of the industry and provide members of the Nebraska Unicameral with information about the effects of various proposals on their constituents. The program is designed to have bank- ers serve as contacts for each and every member of the Legislature. We need Contact Bankers like you! While we still have time to stop and catch our breath before the start of the 2015 Legislative Session, it is never too early to begin lining up the troops. You and your staff’s participation in our Contact Bankers Program is encour- aged, and we look forward to working with you during the upcoming session. Sign up to be a Contact Banker by visiting the NBA’s Grassroots Center at http://bit.ly/ContactBankers. Thank you for your consideration in participating in the Contact Bankers Program! With 17 new state senators ensured by term limits, we need to make certain that the collective voice of bankers is heard in the Nebraska Legislature.
